The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) central committee is holding a meeting today, Saturday, October 3, 2026, to discuss its strategy for upcoming local elections and finalize plans for its nationwide campaigns. The meeting, chaired by RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, is taking place at 3 PM in Ghantighar, Banasthali, Kathmandu.

According to RSP Spokesperson Jagadish Kharel, the key agendas for the meeting include the nomination of members for the central candidate selection committee for local elections, the appointment of departmental heads and deputy heads, and the action plan for the ‘We Are Coming’ campaign. The meeting will also review the audit report of the Madhesh Province organization and address miscellaneous issues.

Preparing for Local Elections

The RSP is preparing for local elections, which the Election Commission, Nepal’s election body, is planning to hold in February/March 2027 (Falgun 2083 BS). The Election Commission aims to complete the elections two months before the tenure of current local representatives expires.

The RSP has been actively working to expand its political influence at the local and provincial levels. The party aims to field candidates in all 753 local units and strengthen its organization at the grassroots. So far, the RSP has completed conventions in 4,363 out of 6,743 wards and elected leadership in 609 out of 753 municipalities through their first conventions.

In line with its outreach efforts, the RSP has been running the ‘We Are Listening’ campaign since July 25, 2026 (Shrawan 25, 2083 BS), to directly hear public grievances, problems, and suggestions. This campaign mandates the daily presence of two central committee members and House of Representatives members.

The ‘We Are Coming’ Campaign

A major focus of today’s meeting is the ‘We Are Coming’ campaign, which the RSP announced will be launched across all 753 local units nationwide starting October 7, 2026 (Ashoj 20, 2083 BS). The central committee and House of Representatives members will lead this campaign.

Today’s meeting is expected to finalize the action plan for the ‘We Are Coming’ campaign and make decisions regarding the central candidate selection committee members and departmental appointments. However, the names of the members to be nominated to the central candidate selection committee, the individuals to be appointed as departmental heads and deputy heads, and the detailed schedule of the ‘We Are Coming’ campaign have not yet been made public. Additionally, while the Election Commission is preparing for local elections by February/March 2027, the exact date for the elections has not been set.
